To get a bit personal, for me (Anjolieke) Square1magazine never feels like a one woman show. Because I know there are a lot of like minded people out there who look for a positive and easy version of sustainable fashion. But since I do a big part of the writing and editing myself, I love to team up! For the first print edition and Fair Fall one of the people I worked with was Marlous from Goodfibrations. So, after having worked with her on the magazine and the event, I asked her a few questions – what she thought of the magazine, and about her favourites. So here’s more about Marlous:
Three years ago me and my business partner started Goodfibrations, an online shop specialized in fair and sustainable fashion. We strongly believe the days of fast fashion are numbered and the world is ready for slow fashion. Our collection comprises over 15 brands, for men and women, produced all over the world. The company is growing and we’re very happy to be able to serve an increasing number of customers.
In the past couple of years we’ve met many like-minded people, one of whom is Anjolieke from Square1magazine. With her magazine, Anjolieke tries to provide ‘a box of sustainable style inspiration’ and she writes about ‘all you need to be picky about’. A couple of weeks ago we teamed up to organize an event in Utrecht, named Fair Fall. Visitors could shop at the Goodfibrations pop-up store and Anjolieke proudly presented Square1magazine’s first print edition.
The magazine is printed on A3 paper, folded twice, creating pages of A5 size. The pages are held together with an elastic band. What I especially like is that once you remove the elastic band and unfold the pages, the reverse side of every page reveals a striped pattern in black and white. This side of the page can be used to wrap a present, once you’ve finished reading. Creative and sustainable at the same time!
In the magazine you find a lot of information on favourites: both old ones and new ones. Some items from Goodfibrations’ new collection made it to the page Be picky! Our favourites this autumn! When asked about my personal favourites, both old and new, I didn’t need to think long. This dark green jacket (picture just above) I bought on a Barcelona city trip 10 years ago is still very dear to me. It’s comfortable, the color’s beautiful and it keeps me warm when it’s not that cold. I think it will remain part of my wardrobe for many years to come. As to a new item I fancy…I’m in love with all the items from our collection the Be picky! page features. But if I really had to choose, I would go for the red pencil skirt by People Tree. I love the bright red colour and versatility of it!
